Similac Formula Recall Details
An estimated 5 million containers of powdered Similac formula have been recalled by the company after reports of possible contamination consisting of (yikes) beetle parts of larvae. In other words, a fomula-feeding-mom's worst nightmare.
The recall is only for certain types of the powdered formula; ready-to-feed (liquid) varieties are not affected.
If you have powdered Similac at home, you should stop using it immediately until you've determined whether your batch is contaminated. To find out, go to the Similac website and plug in the lot number to see if your container is part of the recall. If so, the company will send you a FedEx label and mailer so that you can return the product and, sometime thereafter, receive a refund.
Good advice from parent to parent: Nothing is more important than making sure your baby is safe and healthy, but it's also wise to get a refund when it's due.
