What Is Implantation Bleeding?

During the first couple of weeks of a pregnancy, the egg attaches itself in the uterus, in some cases causing a little bit of implantation bleeding, or spotting. This is a perfectly normal process that occurs as small blood vessels in the uterine lining tear.

Not everyone experiences implantation bleeding. If you do, keep in mind that spotting involves a lot less blood than a regular period. You should let your doctor know if you experience any pain with spotting or if there's more than a light bleeding.
