Late Pregnancy Pain

Brandi 07/07/2010

Question:

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and, about four times a day, I have an uncomfortable pain deep in my vagina. Is this normal? Could my baby just be dropping?

Aubrey Wade, RN MSN responds:

“Uncomfortable pains” from your vagina to your hips, and from the ligaments holding up your belly to deep inside your vagina - these are the hallmarks of late pregnancy.

That pain deep inside may be your baby’s head beginning to put pressure on your cervix, and may change from day to day as the head stretches the lower area of your uterus. Then, you may feel twinges in your legs and even your feet as the baby rests on nerves that travel that way.

All these interesting changes are preparing you for the stronger sensations that labor will bring.
