Communication and social development
The two-month-old baby waves his arms and kicks his feet, and tries to make contact when he sees his caregivers, sometimes with a very focused facial expression. He experiments with sounds, saying “aaa” and “eee,” and knows that he can get attention by vocalizing.
He enjoys making eye contact, especially during quiet times, like feedings. When someone smiles at him, he may smile back.
Senses and motor skills
The baby can follow moving objects and sounds and by turning his head; his focus is better and he can now differentiate primary colors.
Interest and activities
Baby has fun experimenting with his sense of touch. He’s also developing an awareness of his fingers (that he even has fingers, and what they can do). Many babies enjoy resting their head on your shoulder and, from this secure place, observing their environment. He’ll “converse” by making sounds and reacting to sounds made by his caregivers.
