Taking a village
Written by
Frau X 07/06/2010
Sarah, isn't it heart-warming to know that you married into a family that is always right? It's like your own private wikipedia. Your in-laws and my family should get together and have a "right off" while we get mani/pedis somewhere far far away.

So this drives home for me. My mother-in-law is Italian. And yes she loooves the babys. But you are right, our business is always her business. And she's always right. Never has she backed down and admitted fault of any thing. And her daughter is exactly the same.I think it just may be best to find a more private village filled with personal space and A LOT less criticism.

Had me laughing out loud while at my sandwich at my computer for lunch. Would love to see a pic of that haircut! Can't wait for the next installment....

Where's a girl to get a good haircut?
Written by

Wow -- I can ask my friend to recommend her Filipino nanny to see if you can get into that mafia. And I've had a very good chop at the Vidal Sassoon near Odeonplatz -- it was almost $70 in 1993, so I shudder to think what it costs now. My own tresses look like Bon Jovi or the Def Leppard singer (what was his name?) and everyone here speaks English. But I learned never to get a haircut from the guy with a funky haircut.

Thanks! I think that stylists just learned how to layer hair here and are applying their new-found skills on an unwitting female public. Next stop - spiky and magenta.
